What Downtown Miami Movers Run Into

Service elevator reservations. Nearly every managed tower requires the service elevator to be booked in advance, and furniture is normally kept off the passenger elevators entirely. Notice periods vary by building, and one Brickell tower requires seven days. Call your management office the same week you book, because end-of-month slots go first.

Certificates of insurance. Many buildings will not approve a date until they have a COI from the mover, and some require the building listed as an additional insured. Send us the building’s requirements and we issue the document to management at no cost to you.

Loading docks and truck size. Docks limit truck length and height, and dock hours do not always match elevator hours. Some buildings require a temporary parking permit for the moving vehicle. We confirm dock dimensions and both time windows before the day.

Restricted days. Most managed buildings prohibit Sunday and holiday moves. Saturday is normally available but books furthest ahead.

A Low Floor and a High Floor Are Not the Same Job

A unit on the fourth floor with a wide dock and a two-hour elevator window costs less to move than identical contents on the thirtieth floor with a narrow slot shared between residents. Tell us the building and the floor when you ask for a price and the estimate will land much closer to the final number.

What Your Building Will Ask For

Management offices normally want the registrations on file before they approve a move date. The Pro Movers Miami registrations are US DOT 2855891, MC 956262, Florida IM 2721, and MR 01221, and the certificate of insurance goes to them at no cost to you.

Month-End Is the Hardest Date to Get Downtown

Leases downtown turn over on the first of the month, which means the last weekend and the first weekend are the two busiest periods in the area.

Every building on your street is running the same elevator schedule at the same time, so slots are gone early and the dock is shared. If your dates have any flexibility, a mid-month weekday is cheaper, faster, and far easier to book. If they do not, call your building the moment you have a date rather than the week before. The elevator slot, not the moving company, is normally the thing that is unavailable.

We also run storage for the gap between a downtown lease ending and the next one starting, which is common when the dates do not line up. See storage.

Parking Permits and Street Loading

Not every downtown building has a dock a truck can actually use, and where it does not, the load happens from the street.

Some buildings require a temporary parking permit for the moving vehicle, arranged through management rather than through the city. Where loading happens from metered spaces, the bays need reserving in advance, and the number of bays decides whether a 26-foot truck can sit square to the curb or has to double-park and shuttle.

Tell us at the quote stage if your building has no dock. It changes the truck we send and it changes the hours, and discovering it on the day is what turns a half-day job into a full one.
